Village School
A school is a focal point in every village - it radiates hope, excitement, interest to both young and old.
The new village school was constructed in 1871 and is well situated, near to St. Mary's church. It is built of red brick with white stone facings. The school provides a means for educating local children as well as children from villages further afield. The Village school has grown in stature over the years and teaches a wide range of subjects. The school also takes advantage of the school playing fields which are in close proximity and allow the children to enjoy many sporting games as well as providing a location for Sports Day which is enjoyed by many in the village.
In 1908, the teaching of the Welsh language was introduced into the school curriculum at Nercwys and it remains an important part of the school curriculum.
