The land for the chapel was donated by John Lewis which allowed the handful of enthusiastic workers to begin building. This enabled them to be free from the Church and allowed them to worship in their own way.
The opening of the chapel was celebrated both in 1928 and again in 1978.
The chapel provided services and education in the Welsh language at a time when the language was actively discouraged elsewhere. This continues to this day for the sizeable Welsh speaking community in the district.
A schoolroom was added to the chapel which allows the Sunday School to meet every Sunday. The schoolroom is use by the Community Council, for voting in local and government elections and by many of the local societies.
