Ecclesiastical administration dates back
to the times when Nercwys (then known as “Nerquis” was
part of the “ancient chapelries” of Mold. Since those
times Nercwys has been variously associated with
neighbouring parishes such as Llanferres.
We are now part of a “grouped benefice”,
comprising the parishes of Nercwys, Treuddyn and Eryrys.
Treuddyn’s present Church of St. Mary dates from 1874 –
there you will see ancient glass, unique in the UK. The
Church of St. David at Eryrys is now closed for regular
worship, and the building of 1863 has been renovated and
is in use as a community venue.
The Parish Church of St. Mary, Nercwys,
is in the Province of the Anglican Church in Wales,
within the Diocese of St. Asaph, the Archdeaconery of
Wrexham, and the Deanery of Mold. Websites are easy to
come by for all the foregoing.
Parish Priest
(Vicar, Incumbent): Reverend John Bernard Jones.
