Soar Methodist Chapel was built in 1828 and was officially opened on 11th October 1828. Prior to this the Sunday School and Services were held in local farmhouses.

The land for the chapel was donated by John Lewis which allowed the handful of enthusiastic workers to begin building. This enabled them to be free from the Church and allowed them to worship in their own way.

The opening of the chapel was celebrated both in 1928 and in 1978.

The chapel has allowed the members to worship in their own language - this is so even today.

A schoolroom was added to the chapel which allows the Sunday School to meet every Sunday. The schoolroom is use by the Community Council, for voting in local and government elections and by many of the local societies.

The Sunday School meets every Sunday at 10.30am and the main service in the afternoon at 2.15pm.

The Literary Society meets alternate Monday evenings during the winter months. The members enjoy a wide range of events including lectures and talks, Swper y Llanciau (an evening meal prepared by men), St. David's day celebrations, Brethyn Cartref - a homespun evening of entertainment prepared by the members etc. The peak event of the Society is the Easter Concert - held every year on Easter Monday for over 50 years.

The minister is the Rev Huw Powell Davies, ably supported by his wife Rev Nan Wyn Powell Davies.
